The sculptural installation Anguane’s Fountain (2024/2026), by Diana Policarpo, has been acquired by the Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo and is now permanently installed in its open-air sculpture park in Guarene, Italy.
Originally presented in 2024 at the 9th Biennale Gherdëina (Dolomites), curated by Lorenzo Giusti with associate curator Marta Papini, the installation brings together the fluid connections between deep time, local folklore, and shifting territories. Drawing upon the Alpine myth of the anguanes — hybrid female entities who protect water sources and take on multiple forms —, the work evokes their shapeshifting nature through the figure of a deep-sea carnivorous sponge. The inaugural presentation also included a multichannel sound installation featuring a choral composition by Porto-based vocal collective COBRACORAL.
Anguane’s Fountain now joins the permanent collection at Parco d’Arte Sandretto Re Rebaudengo, establishing an enduring dialogue with the Piedmont landscape and works by key figures in international contemporary art.
