We are happy to be participating once again in the General Programme of ARCOlisboa for its 9th edition, taking place from May 28 to 31, 2026, at the Cordoaria Nacional in Lisbon (PT).
The booth presents a dialogue between Dayana Lucas (1987, Caracas), Maria Paz Aires (1998, Porto), and Marlon de Azambuja (1978, Rio Grande do Sul).
The presentation explores the intersections of the body, materiality, and invocation as a magical practice, reflecting a broader resurgence of ritualistic and mystical dimensions in contemporary art.
Spanning photography, sculpture, and drawing, these artists approach matter and the body as sites of transformation and embodied knowledge. Their practices operate between the intimate and the symbolic, where acts of invocation call forth memories, forces, and desires. By activating forms that open "portals" of meaning, the works resonate with Silvia Federici’s perspective on ritual and magic: historically marginalised practices that persistently resurface as forms of resistance and world re-enchantment.
