We are happy to be participating once again in the General Programme of ARCOlisboa for its 9th edition, taking place from May 28 to 31, 2026, at the Cordoaria Nacional in Lisbon (PT).
Lehmann Gallery presents a dialogue between Dayana Lucas (1987, Caracas), Maria Paz Aires (1998, Porto), and Marlon de Azambuja (1978, Rio Grande do Sul), which explores the intersections between the body, materiality, and invocation as a ritual act, reflecting a broader resurgence of mystical and ritualistic dimensions in contemporary art.
Intersecting photography, sculpture, painting, and drawing, these artists approach matter and the body as sites of transformation and embodied knowledge. Their practices operate between the intimate and the symbolic, where invocatory gestures summon memories, forces, and desires. By activating forms that open "portals" of meaning, the works resonate with Silvia Federici’s perspective on ritual and magic: historically marginalised dynamics that persistently re-emerge as tools of resistance and for the re-enchantment of the world.
