We are happy to be participating once again in the Main Section of ARCOlisboa at the 2025 edition, taking place from May 29th to June 1st, where we will be presenting works by Alice dos Reis, Álvaro Lapa, and Diana Policarpo.
Bringing together Álvaro Lapa (1939-2006), Diana Policarpo (b. 1986) and Alice dos Reis (b. 1995) in the same space might seem too bold an initiative. However, a shared underlying thread connects them, and these three artists share concerns that position them as trailblazers within the Portuguese art scene.
In examining the works of Lapa, Policarpo, and dos Reis, an intrinsic link becomes evident, woven into the very fabric of contemporary Portuguese art. Their practices transcend boundaries, blending disciplines, and delve into profound explorations of the human condition. Despite being separated by generations and historical contexts, these three artists converge in a unified pursuit: to destabilise fixed notions of what art can be, paving the way for speculation, research and the creation of new narratives.
