1974, Schorndorf (DE).
Lives and works in Luanda (AO).
Much of Iris B. Chocolate's work dissects and brings into question, notions of perception and memory, somewhere between the canon of history – with its linear narratives – and the collective memory archive.
Bodies carry past experiences and reflect on appropriation and cultural reproduction. At the same time, there is a clear reference to local culture as the substratum of this questioning.
Using different media and working closely with local artisans, she develops a poetic narrative that encompasses different time frames and questions their consequences in memory.
